Jennie Bloomer (11 April 1860) was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Joseph and Isabel Bloomer.

She married James Allen on 25 August 1878 in Smith County, Kansas.

At age 10, Jennie was living with her family in Nodaway, Missouri.¹⁾ Ten years later, in 1880, she was married and living in Smith County, Kansas with her husband. Her next door neighbors at the time were her parents and siblings.²⁾

In 1900 she was living in Assaria, Kansas, where her oldest son was a teacher.³⁾ In 1910 she was living in Finney County, Kansas.⁴⁾ She was 50 years old and her youngest daughter, Edna, was 2. In 1920, her son Warren was married and living next to her.⁵⁾ She was living in Garden City in 1930 with her youngest son Glenn.⁶⁾ In 1940, she was living with her oldest son Edward.⁷⁾

In 1870, it's recorded that Jennie had attended school within the past year, and was able to read and write.⁸⁾ Her last year of schooling was in 1880.⁹⁾

There is no listed employment for Jennie until 1920, less than two years after her husband died, when she is listed as a farmer.¹⁰⁾ In 1930, at age 70, she was again listed without a job.¹¹⁾

Jennie passed away on 17 December 1940 in Garden City, Kansas. She died of chronic myocardities and chronic interstitial nephritis — inflammation of the heart and kidneys.¹²⁾ She was survived by eight of her 13 children.
