Mabel Sanderson (1891) was born in Nebraska to Daniel and Anna Sanderson.
She was married to James Shirley on 28 December 1910 in Norton, Kansas.
Mabel first appears on the record in the 1900 census living with her parents and three siblings in Norton, Kansas, although she was born in Nebraska.1) In December of 1910 she wed James Shirley and they are listed as residing together with two children on the 1915 Kansas Census.2)
In 1924 the family moved to Furnas County, Nebraska.3) The Shirley family would live in Holbrook in Furnas County for the next 22 years.
After her husband died in 1946, Mabel moved to Norton, Kansas sometime in 1948.4) She was there as late as 1950.5)
In 1900, 9 year old Mabel is listed as having attended school for six months out of the past year, and as being able to read and write.6)
Sometime before 1905, Mabel's father died and she is listed as being employed in the 1905 Kansas Census.7)
It seems that after the death of her husband, Mabel had to find work, because in 1947 she was working part-time in the Wolfe Cafe in Holbrook, Nebraska.8) In 1948 she was working in Norton, Kansas.9)
Mabel was killed in 1979 when she was struck by a car in Pflugerville, Texas, just north of Austin.
