Rev. Allen, who resided at Deerfield several years ago, but who was living on a claim south of Garden City, died of influenza and was buried at Deerfield, Saturday. It is reported that a number of his family are still sick.

James Milton Allen was born October 16^th, 1855 and died December 7^th, 1918, being 63 years, 1 month, and 18 days of age.

He was born near Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin. His father died when he was only 5 years of age, and in 1863 he moved with his mother to Warren County, Iowa, and in 1874 they again removed to Smith County, Kansas.

He was married to his now bereaved wife, Jennie B. Bloomer, on August 25th, 1878. He united with the M.E. church at an early age and the greater part of his life was spent in the uplifting of humanity. He was actively engaged in the gospel mininistry for about 15 years.

From 1906 to 1914 he lived near Deerfield, Kansas, and for the last 5 years he has been living on a farm 12 miles south of Garden City.

Three older brothers are still living; they are: Rev. E.W. Allen of Topeka, Kansas, Rev. W.R. Allen of Portland, Oregon, and J.F. Allen of Vinton, Iowa. He is also survived by 8 children.

Funeral services were conducted in the M.E. church at Deerfield, by Rev. S.M. VanCleve, Saturday, January 25th, 1919 and the remains were laid to rest in the Deerfield cemetery.
