John Furrow (25 May 1858) was born in Potomac, Illinois to William and Mary Furrow.

He was married to Sally Ann Rayl on 8 November 1878 in Vermillion County, Illinois.

In the summer of 1860, 2-year-old John was living in Blount Township, Illinois with his parents and 6-month-old brother Samuel.¹⁾

Sometime after 1878 and 1880 he was married to Sally Ann Rayl in Vermillion County.²⁾ He lived in Blue Grass, Illinois (which no longer exists) in 1880.³⁾ Sometime between 1884 when his first son William was born and 1886 when his son Charles was born, he moved to Kansas where he stayed until at least 1885 when his daughter Josie was born.

By 1900 he was living in Waynoka, Oklahoma.⁴⁾ In 1903 he was granted 160 acres of land in Woods County, Oklahoma under the Homestead Act of 1862 which indicates that he had lived there for at least the previous five years.⁵⁾

There is no record of John's education although in 1900 it's recorded that he was able to read and write.⁶⁾

In 1880 John was employed as a farmer in Blue Grass, Illinois.⁷⁾ In 1900, John was farming in Waynoka, Oklahoma on land he owned mortgage free.⁸⁾
