George Furrow (11 May 1890) was born in Sun City, Kansas to John and Sally Furrow.

He was married to Birdie Burnett on 23 January 1909 in Alva, Oklahoma.

George's first known residence was in Waynoka, Oklahoma where he lived with his parents and six siblings in 1900.¹⁾ He was still in Woods County, Oklahoma when he married his wife Birdie in 1909.²⁾

The next year they moved to Jones, Oklahoma in Major County near to his wife's uncle and grandfather, Fred Deckers Jr. and Sr.³⁾ In 1917 — on his WWI draft registration⁴⁾ — he listed his home address as Belva, Oklahoma in neighboring Woodward County, although he was listed as living in Jones on the 1920 census.⁵⁾

By 1928, George and his family were living in Waynoka where Inez, Alvin, and John were enrolled in school.⁶⁾ He likely stayed in Waynoka until around 1936, the last year his youngest daughter, Billie, was enrolled there.⁷⁾

In 1940 he is listed as living with his wife and two youngest children in Junction City, Kansas.⁸⁾ When he died in 1952, he was living in Amarillo, Texas.

The earliest mention of George's schooling is in the 1900 US Census where he's listed as being able to read and write, and having attended school for 3 months out of the year.⁹⁾ Billie Allen — George's youngest child — mentions in a brief memoir that her father never finished the 4^th grade.

By 1910, George was married and a self-employed farmer who owned his land outright.¹⁰⁾ In 1920 his fortunes appear to have changed as he was now renting the land he was farming as he cared for his growing family.¹¹⁾ By 1930 he was living in Waynoka working on an “employer farm.”¹²⁾ In 1940 he was in Kansas working construction as a “civil service plasterer.” The census records that he worked 45 weeks a year and earned $900 ($16,435 in 2019) over the previous 18 months.¹³⁾ When he passed in 1952, his death certificate listed his occupation as a “self employed” “carpenter.”¹⁴⁾

George Furrow passed away on 30 November 1952 from pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver.¹⁵⁾ He was survived by his wife Birdie.
