John Furrow (16 January 1917) was born in Major Co, Oklahoma to George and Birdie Furrow.
He married Sarah Winford Johnston on 3 July 1937 in Junction City, Kansas.
John grew up on a farm in Major County.1) In 1923 he was attending school in Belva, Oklahoma, in neighboring Woodward County.2) In 1928 he was attending school in Waynoka, in nearby Woods County.3) He was living in Waynoka as late as 1936.4)
By 1940 John was married and living in Geary County, Kansas.5) In 1951 he and his wife moved to Amarillo, Texas, where they lived until they returned to Waynoka in 1994.6)
John began his education in Belva, Oklahoma at the age of 5.7) His last year of enrollment was in 1936 at the age of 19,8) however he only completed two years of high school.9)
In 1940, John was listed as working as a farm laborer, having made $480 the previous year ($8,765 in 2019).10) According to his 1940 draft registration his employer was J. J. Smiley.11)
