John Melvin Furrow, 87, Waynoka
John Melvin Furrow, 87, son of the late George Monroe and Birdie (Burnett) Furrow, was born January 16, 1917, in Major County, Oklahoma, and passed away December 20, 2004, at the Waynoka Nursing Home in Waynoka, Oklahoma.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ivan Furrow; one daughter, Barbara Louise Furrow; one brother, Alvin Furrow; one sister, Inez Brown; and one grandchild, Bobbyjo Ingram. John is survived by his wife, Sarah Furrow, of Waynoka; one son, Johnny George Furrow and his wife, Shirley, of Alton, Ill.; one daughter, Arbutus Jane Furrow; five grandchildren, Tony Stith of Burlington, Ky., David Stith, serving in Iraq, Melody Scheffel and her husband, James, of Alton, Ill., Kathy Jo Young and her husband, James, of Burlington, Kan., Steve Furrow of Alton, Ill.; seven great grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica and Carla Stith, Matthew, Joshua and John Young and Savannah Scheffel; one brother Delmer Furrow and his wife, Jean, of Portland, Ore.; one sister Billie Allen and her husband Paul of Bonner Springs, Kan.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the Waynoka Church of God, with Rev. John Brint officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka. The casket will be open at the funeral in Waynoka Sunday afternoon until 12:30 Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's research or Share Hospice.

WAYNOKA, Okla. - John Melvin Furrow, 87, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Waynoka Church of God with the Rev. John Brint officiating. Burial will be in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery by Marshall Funeral Home.
Mr. Furrow was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Major County to George Monroe Furrow and Birdie Burnett Furrow. On July 3, 1937, he married Sarah Winford Johnston at Junction City, Kan.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnny George Furrow of Alton, Ill.; a daughter, Arbutus Jane Furrow; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmer Furrow of Portland, Ore.; and a sister Billie Allen of Bonner Springs, Kan.
The family suggests memorials be to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer's Research or to Share Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
