Daniel Allen (30 October 1978) was born in Kansas City, Kansas to David Allen and Deane Shirley.

He married Esperanza Garrido on 17 December 2016 at the Presidente Hotel in Polanco, Mexico City. Their first child, Leona Sophia, was born on 12 August 2020.

Daniel was raised in Kansas City, Kansas in a house on Yecker Ave until 1986 when his parents moved to a house on Hauser Dr. in Overland Park, Kansas.

In 1991 he was sent to Kemper Military School in Boonville, Missouri. While there his mother divorced and remarried, moving to the Lakewood neighborhood of Lee's Summit, Missouri where Daniel lived for one year between 1994 and 1995.

Upon his graduation from Kemper in 1997 he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas until 1999 when he transferred to Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania.

He left Pennsylvania for the first time in 2000 to live with his sister in Los Angeles, California before returning later in the year. He left again in 2008 and moved to Durham, North Carolina, and later, to Raleigh.

In 2016 he moved in with his future wife in Alexandria, Virginia before moving to Santiago de Querétaro, Querétaro in 2018.

Daniel's first school was Hazel Grove Elementary in Kansas City, Kansas which he attended for two years.

After moving to Overland Park, Kansas, he attended Rosehill Elementary in Lenexa, Kansas from second through sixth grades.

He attended Indian Woods Middle in Shawnee, Kansas for half a year in 1991 before being sent to Kemper Military School in Boonville, Missouri for the remainder of his secondary schooling, save for one year between 1994 and 1995 when he attended Blue Springs South High in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Upon his graduation in 1997 he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where he studied Computer Science. In 1999 he transferred to Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania where he switched his major to English and Journalism.

He briefly studied Education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina and North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Daniel has worked at a little bit of everything. One of his first jobs was as a cook at McDonalds in Lee's Summit, Missouri when he was 16.

After high school, during his time in Pennsylvania, he worked as a pizza delivery driver in Millersville, and as a waiter and bartender in Lancaster.

After college he continued working as a waiter and a bartender. During this time he also worked as an overnight security guard. In 2011 he started working as a substitute teacher in the Wake County North Carolina school system. This led to his employment as an administrator and child-care coordinator at Lynn Road Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

While in Alexandria, Virginia he worked as a substitute teacher and an Uber driver.

He currently works as a freelance copy editor.
